The generally accepted practice with regard to the printing and distribution of Dhamma books on a non-commercial basis is that the costs involved are sponsored by devotees, well-wishers or aspirants who want to make merits. Each print run could be for 500-1,000 or more books. Sponsors choose to cover the entire costs of printing and distribution, or only a portion thereof or, one of the two sets of costs. Sometimes, individual sponsors indicate that they are only interested in supporting the reprinting of a particular title, for instance, which is acceptable; in which case, we would group like-minded sponsors for that project only. Sponsorship could be non-specific, too, such as to generally support the printing or reprinting of any or all titles.
With regard to the Sammā Diṭṭhi and Altitude, a few offers and pledges of sponsorship for the costs of printing and distribution have been received for these works.
All sponsorships, large and small, whether in cash or kind (e.g. offering to print the books at a sponsor’s printing press) are welcome and deeply appreciated as they provide the only means to replenish stocks and keep them readily available for aspirants.
